When we use the term body art, tattoos are probably the first thing that come to our mind. But before, we always think that people with tattoos are "bad" people. Good thing that it changes in modern days. When we say tattoo, most people (especially in our generation) think that it is cool and astig. I must admit I am thinking to get one too. For me, it is a way to show how Filipino you really are. Like what I noticed, you know you are a Filipino if you have a Filipino flag tattoo on a part of your body.

What is tattoo?

NO PAIN NO GAIN then I guess. Because permanent tattoos are made by injecting  tattoo ink under the outer layers of the skin. There is pain but when it is all said and done, some fantastic body art has been created (that will/can last forever).

RIZAL'S SWEET STRANGER: Untold Stories of Josephine Bracken

One hundred fifty years ago, Dr. Jose Rizal was born in the Islands of the Philippines. He was a multifaceted intellectual, an award winning poet and writer, a polyglot, a scientist, a doctor of medicine specializing in ophthalmology. But of all his passions and pursuits, the national hero of the Philippines is best remembered in history, first, as a political activist whose writings inspired the Philippine revolution which ultimately led to his martyrdom by Spanish colonial authorities, and second, as a romantic who had many equally-statured loves but found his heart in the bosom of a common woman, an orphan who was rumored to be a whore and allegedly a spy for the Spanish friars.

As the highlight of the year-long celebration of Dr. Rizal's 150th birthday, Samasama Project and CIRCA-Pintig present a world class musical showing a glimpse of his personal life with his foreign (Irish Hong Kong) born wife, Josephine Bracken, with Rizal’s Sweet Stranger: Untold Stories of Josephine Bracken the Musical a contemporary musical born of a collaborative montage of the 2009 Carlos Palanca Award Winner for a Full-length Play, Miss Dulce Extranjera, by Anril P. Tiatco as well as Isagani Cruz’s Josephine and extrapolations of other historical texts and visual documents. Set to music by Samasama Project’s very own Baron Lloyd Cabalona, music by Dr. Cleofe Guangko Casambre and William Elvin Manzano, and concept and direction by Dr. Anton Juan, Jr.

I don’t really have enough strength to fight against the enemy of life.
In my younger days, I always had mixed thoughts about my future life.
I said “I want to be a soldier, one who can defend the tricolor of our flag.”
But when I learned how to draw on the four walls of our house,
I started dreaming of being an Artist…….

As an Artist my only weapons are my brushes and canvas.
My concept, my idea, the feelings and the drama are the forms that directly flow like blood into the veins of my viewers to open their hearts and minds.

My art is my way to express my anger and pain.
