Singapore is not just about the gigantic edifices, colorful street lights and the lavish lifestyle. But more than that is the continuous preservation of its culture and arts beyond the modern society the city has, the sole reason of the birth of the Singapore Art Museum, a state-of-the-art museum that houses the largest collection of art expressions all around the Singapore and Southeast Asia, and a lifetime opportunity for everyone to experience the works and ideas of the living artist of the region.
One snap and my feet took me to 71 Bras Basah Road where this museum was located. I was excited as the big letters of SAM wave to me and welcome me to the home of the largest collection of modern and contemporary Southeast Asian artworks. Welcome to Singapore Art Museum!
SAM officially opened in the year 1996 under the National Heritage Board of Singapore. Formerly known as the St. Joseph’s Institution Building, SAM features paintings, sculptures, and installations from the different artists from Singapore and the whole Southeast Asia like Malaysia, Hong Kong, Thailand, India, Philippines and many more.

Explore the highlights of SAM and its collections through the special tours for visitors. I personally experienced it and learned a lot from the stories and trivia behind each artwork. Aside from the educational tour, visitors to the SAM can experience the advanced facilities of the museum.
