Just like the other paintings, it tells a lot of stories. But on my paintings, stories are always hidden. It is the challenge of each eye to appreciate this work of art, understanding what it really says.
It was a challenge when I joined the Labing Isang Daliri Art Exhibit by UP Painters' Club in 2006 since I know that the participants always do great with their paintings. So I prepared well with my entry which is a set of three paintings related to each one. "Almusal," "Tanghalian" at "Hapunan" are all abstracts paintings which the story is connected with each painting. Each one is made of acrylic in canvas and I framed it with scrapped Nara woods. The paintings are mixtures of modern and traditional art. I used different colors and accented it with gold. I executed different techniques with the paintings to express the semblance of textures, shapes, colors and compositions. I wanted to show contemporary ideas that reflect the art and its social relevance of the time. Just like the other paintings, it tells a lot of stories. But on my paintings, stories are always hidden. It is the challenge of each eye to appreciate this work of art, understanding what it really says. Paintings were exhibited in Labing Isang Daliri at Sining Makiling Gallery, UP Los Banos, Laguna.

Cool paintings. Well, like any other paintings, it does tell stories. It's how the beholder sees it.

Thank you. I love paintings especially when they have meaningful stories. But abstract paintings are really challenging because the meanings are hidden. :)

Such warm colors... They remind me of Pampanga for some reason.

Pardon me for I beg to disagree that art is the food of our souls. For me, art strengthens our souls. Good arts edify them. But the scriptures are the spiritual foods of our souls.

I was raised in a household with art. I wished I learned from my stepfather (http://mtevangelista.tripod.com).
