Cheap Crafty Gifts For Christmas

12/14/2011

Two weeks left until Christmas!  Like what I always experience, some of you guys are also having headaches choosing the best gifts for our friends and family. Sa dinamidami ba naman ng kapamilya at inaanak, sigurado, kulang ang Christmas bonus mo pambili ng regalo. If you’re struggling with your finances or wasn't able to save  for Christmas, you can always make something homemade. For me, a gift from the heart means more than those you can buy at the malls. The best way to give gifts is just show off your crafting skills by making your own Christmas gifts to friends and family.

BEST GIFT IDEAS

Last day, I received an e-mail from a subscriber of my blog and who was asking some ideas about cheap gifts she can buy for her kid's Christmas party in school. Her kid wants to give all of her  friends gift that is why she is in trouble. You can make this without spending money. Why buy if you can make those gifts on your own?

So, here are some of the best gifts you can make on your own without spending money. Your friends and family will love this. Take it from me. :) :) :)

Jewelry

Here's a lovely gift idea for girls and all fashion freaks who love to dress up in style-with-a-difference. You can make earrings made up of paper beads. How to make this?

Simple. Just arrange a paper coil and some beads on a craft wire. Experiment with different colors and style. Attach it to an ear wire by the use of a pliers. You're finished. You can also create other jewelry, such as necklace, bracelet or even a pendant by simply attaching it on a ribbon. It can easily be handcrafted by you at home with some very simple materials to compile and create this beautiful pair of this earrings.

Key-chain

The saying "big things come in small packages" holds true to this stylish sentiment.

Same as how you do the earrings, put together the paper coils and some beads in a craft wire. After customizing it in your own design, attach it in a key ring. A key ring may cost from 0.50 pesos up to 1.00 peso each in any craft store.

Key chains are also perfect on a backpack’s zipper.  This would be a great gift for a college or high school student, boys and girls.

Cell Phone Charm

If you are looking for a fun gift for a friend, co-worker or even a family member, this cell phone charms are an excellent choice. Teens love them because you can personalize their cell phones with this gift. They are also fun craft that last a long time.

There are ready-made strap available to make cell phone charms. This will cost you 0.25 peso each and available in any craft shop. Put paper coils and beads on a  craft wire or string and attach it to the strap. Create your own design which will be perfect to accessorize the mobile phone of your love ones. No matter what color and design you make, a cell phone charm is the perfect present for a number of reasons.

HOW-TO-DO

Like what I've said, you don't need to spend too much to create special gifts for your love ones. You can make this with the supplies found in you house. The technique used to make this is almost the same with my last tutorial on How To Make A Recycled Christmas Decor: Paper Quilled Christmas Tree Ornaments. Coiling is a very fun way to turn up your old scraps of paper  into beautiful handmade creations.

The beads are rolled from individual triangular strips of recycled papers .The color of the paper bead will depend on paper chosen. For the details on how to do it, here are the materials you need and steps to follow.

Materials:
  • Old Papers
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • Stick
  • Pliers
  • Craft wire

Procedures:
1. The first step is to cut your paper into a long triangular shape. This is to have your beads a conical appearance when you're done. The linger you cut your strip will give you a thicker bead when finished.
Picture
2. Roll the paper very tightly using your stick starting from the wide end of your paper strip. The diameter of the stick you are using to wrap the paper whole of your bead.

3. Put a little dab of glue on the end of the paper strip. Wait until it dries.
Picture
4. After drying, remove it from the stick. Now, you have a paper bead that you can use to make your Christmas gifts.

Your beads are now ready so that you can create handmade gifts. Create necklaces, bracelets or use as embellishments for other crafts. You can string them on wire to make jewelries, key chain and cell phone charms perfect for your love ones. Have fun!

Tips:  The thinner the paper, the easier the bead is to make. You can also coat the paper beads by varnish or with a clear nail polish. This will leave them with a glossy and waterproof finish.

After making your handmade gifts, wrap them because friends are waiting for them. Share LOVE this Christmas with these precious gifts.

You're resourceful. No wonder why your site is named, "Sining Factory". I know you're an A-1 craftsman and I've said a "resourceful". The suggestions you gave, the instructions, the materials, and almost everything are making your readers a ready-hand to do those crafts by themselves with less difficulty. This is what I like from a blogger, though he means business, but he never brags. Keep it up. More people especially mothers will be benefited from your affordable, make-your-own Christmas presents in this trying and downtrodden economy of our country is facing today.

I have learned how to do that when I was in highschool. That is indeed a perfect personalized gift especially for girls. Aside from the fact that it is less costly, you can also help in recycling since you can use used magazines instead of colored papers :))

If you use the earring hooks, this can be well used as earrings. :)
