City of Makati – The Filipino Visual Arts and Design Rights Organization (FILVADRO) successfully concluded the election of the Board of Trustees and the ratification of provisions in the articles of incorporation and by-laws in its first annual general assembly billed “Miting Pang-Abanse.”
A collective management group, FILVADRO administers the intellectual property rights of its 95-strong members. It was established in 2011 through the financial support provided by the Norwegian Copyright Development Association (NORCODE).
NORCODE managing director Frode Løvik lauded the initiatives of the group and called on the support of all sectors involved in the Philippine visual arts. “There are many challenges when trying to establish a collective management organization within the field of visual arts in any country,” Løvik said. He added, “But we do hope that the joint efforts from the rightsholders, stakeholders in the art businesses and the government in the Philippines in doing so will succeed.”

Regular members are visual artists with Filipino citizenship residing in the Philippines and members with foreign citizenship living in the country.
