How To Recycle Brown Paper Bags For Gift Wrapping

Two days more before Christmas. Are you done wrapping your gifts for Christmas eve? I know some are not. If you have problems getting expensive gift wrappers, this tutorial is perfect for you. This holiday season, I’m challenging myself to to wrap all the gifts I give in an eco-friendly way. This is my gift to our nature. :)

I want you to join me with this challenge? Wrapping Christmas gifts can be your chance to show some creativity. It also adds some spark to your gifts. Using brown paper bags makes the holiday greener.

Santa's reindeer with a little bit personalization creates a gift wrap that's a guaranteed holiday hit. The reindeer gift wrapping is a simple way of making our presents attractive and fun to the recipients. Everyone will really love this gift wrapping especially the kids. Using just simple craft materials that we can find in our home materials will make our gifts even more special.

Check here to know how this reindeer gift wrapping was done.

Your gift will look extra special with this another fun gift wrap. After wrapping the gift with a plain brown paper, I put a ribbon around it using a twine from an old shopping bag. I added a strip of paper above the twine for additional details. I also put three floral papers made from brown paper instead of a plastic bow.

To make the floral paper, I used the same technique in making the Floral Christmas Wreath. This made the gift very elegant. This is a very decent gift wrapping for female recipients.

If you want to make your gift wrapping more stylish, I recommend this kind. The first thing I did is to make some prints of patterns and designs on the brown paper bag using a string and a paint. You can choose a variety of color depending on the personality of your recipient. Choose blue or black for your male. The combination of colors can make it so festive too, making a perfect wrapping paper.

To add some embellishments, I put an accent made of quilled papers. I used the same technique on making Quilled Paper Christmas tree Ornaments. It made the gift so wonderful.

To make your presents more beautiful, put some prints on your brown paper  using materials around the house with simple and creative gift wrapping techniques. I am sure that even kids can do this with a minimal supervision from adults.

Materials:

Brown paper bags
String
Paint
Heavy book
Procedures:
1. You have to cut the seam of the paper bag first and open it. Fold it into half then open it back up laying it flat.

2. Submerge a piece of string on a paint. Make sure that all string are soaked in the paint to so it will print on the paper.
Picture
3. After submerging the string, lay it on one side of the folded paper in any pattern you want leaving one end of the string so you can hold on to it.
Picture
4. Fold the paper back together and apply pressure on it so that the paint will print perfectly on the paper. I used a heavy book to flatten the paper and as well as too add pressure. Start pulling the string out moving it around the edges of the paper.
Picture
5. You can now see the pattern that is printed on the paper. Let it dry for a minute.

6. After drying, you can now use it for wrapping your gifts.

7. Add some details and accents to make your gift more attractive. You can put quilled paper ornaments as an accent.

Tips: You can also use other printing methods on you brown paper. You can use hand carved stamps made from raw potato. The finished product will be just the same but it has a customized design like snowman, christmas tree, etc. Again, you don't need to buy wrapping material, always look for paper and bags first that can be reused and recycled.

If you have good ideas for recycling and crafts and want to share it here, let me know by commenting below. You can also give me anART CHALLENGE by telling me the materials to use and the artwork you want me to do. :)

I love how you have made use of that string that was submerged on a paint, I remember back in the days of how we have been doing that in art class. :D The quilled paper ornament is perfect!
