Humanimal: To Be A Human Is To Be An Animal

This is a little bit of my love for photography. I call it "Humanimal" which I created when I was still in the Philippines. The location was in Palumbanes Island, Caramoran, Catanduanes. The shoot was not planned since it was holy week then and we just had  our vacation at my Aunt's place. The theme of the portfolio is about a man having a tiger appearance but still possesses his human form.

It is believed in Chinese mythology that the tiger can take human form and that where the challenge came from. The make up became very challenging since it is my first time to create a tiger look without studying the features of a tiger and even trying some make up tutorials for this. I used my old make up from my past Halloween costume, which was the only available material that we brought. For the costume, the top was an old fur jacket and the bottom was a  Malong. Then I made a necklace which was made from sea shells and chorals that I picked along the shore and tied it with an abaca rope.

Tigers became an inspiration for me to make this cause in my view, Tigers are the most beautiful cats alive. As an addition, here are some trivia about tigers.

Rather like human fingerprints, no two tigers have the same pattern of stripes.
A tiger sleeps around sixteen hours a day.
The tail gives the tiger extra balance when running and it also used to communicate to other tigers.
Tiger cubs are blind at birth.
The lifespan of a tiger is 10-15 years in the wild and 20 years in captivity. A tiger's roar can be heard two or three km away.
A tiger can go two to three days without eating and can spend eighteen hours of sleeping.
Adult tigers can eat up to 40kg of food at one sitting. After a big kill, they may not eat again for a week or two.

This is soo fun..
I remember when I had a photoshoot with friends, they dressed me up like a half naked Greek in the middle of a village park.
Did you use some reflectors in here? the lighting was great and the vignettes compliments your pictures

Nice concept and trivia. Imagine, if all tiger can eat up to 40kg a day, all other wild animals around them will be devoured. Good that they only feed themselves once a week or two. ^_^

You've gotten good shots here. Andrew.
Stay creative!
