The Lion City is one of the most vibrant destinations in Asia is ready to fascinate travelers with its unique culture representing the both sides of the world, the east and the west.

If you are a traveler that focuses on exploring the majesty of Singapore's history, art and culture, be sure to stay near the Arab Street. This is where you can find fine art galleries, various designs of textile and dashing jewelries for fashion, different cuisines, enchanting Asian boutiques, the Sultan Mosque, the Haji Lane and many more. This is were Singaporean arts and crafts, the refreshing performances of music and dances as well as the trends in fashion and its mouthwatering cuisines unite encompassing different traditions, beliefs, customs and religion to present the  festivity of what we called the ‘Culture of Singapore’.

I am very happy to experience the jubilation of the culture of Singapore when I attended the Sinagpore Blog Awards 2012. Omy.sg has been generous inviting 15 overseas bloggers to come witness the annual celebration of the SBA. International bloggers from Hong Kong, Malaysia and Philippines mingled on a welcome party at the Landmark Village Hotel. Cocktails, foods and entertainment welcomed us on our first night in Singapore. We also had the chance to see the luxury and lusciousness of Landmark Village Hotel as we were toured around the hotel.

Welcome to Singapore

The Landmark Village Hotel is just about to let me experience the different aspects of the Culture in Singapore as they welcomed us on a poolside dinner and party to meet other overseas bloggers. Welcome to Singapore!

Landmark Village Hotel is strategically located in the Arab Street exuding the Middle-Eastern allure and mystique characteristics of the place and Kampong Glam which is also a rich cultural district  near to commercially vibrant areas such as Bugis Village and Little India. The hotel is easily accessible by public transport which also means easy access to more cultural heritage and Central Business District since the Bugis MRT station is just a 5 -10 minutes walk away.

The Landmark Village Hotel

After a short talk from the manager of the Far East Hospitality, we were toured around the Landmark Village Hotel. The interiors are just awesome and completely a different experience for me.

The hotel has 393 rooms that offer you comfort and relaxation. Have a visual treat with the breathtaking views of  Beach Road’s skyscrapers and the Singapore Flyer. The hotel will let you enjoy the taste of the diversity of Indian, Chinese, Middle Eastern and Malay/Indonesian as well as international cuisines – at its Riverwalk Tandoor, Mooi Chin Place and Lobby Bar.

You can see the beautiful and golden architecture of the Sultan Mosque from the window of the room. You can also explore the maze of tiny shops in the side streets that radiate from the mosque. This is what really excites me for I have known that the Arab Street is a wonderful place to experience another culture and to have a clear insight of the civilization of Singapore. A little walk will lead you to Victoria where you can find dry goods wholesale market and just around the corner is the Bugis Junction, Iluma and other new shopping malls.

Poolside Dinner and Party

The tour was a little bit exhausting but full of fun. After that, we went to the poolside to taste the foods they prepared for us. I totally enjoyed all of it and the cocktails are just splashing anywhere. This was an awesome welcome party.

While enjoying the party, we also welcomed by some local artists of Singapore. A henna tattoo artist gave free temporary ink to the guests. I was very overwhelmed to see how she really mastered this body art.  Henna Tattoo is an important part of the Indian and Arab customs. They use it for many holidays, weddings and other rites of passage. But nowadays, using henna tattoo for body art gains popularity along with the permanent tattoos.

Idris Ali, an artist from Maya Gallery treated us with his talent in sketching. Everyone was so happy to see their faces on a sketch pad. Even myself was surprised and fascinated by Idris' skills on sketching.

While in the area, tourists should not miss a visit to Merlion Park or a tour at the National Museum of Singapore and 8Q Singapore Art Museum.

The night ended with fun. Time to go to The Elizabeth Hotel to rest. :)
