SINIRANGAN, meaning the East, is a word laced with direction and power. It is where the rising sun comes from, marking the dawn at the end of a long dark night. It is from the East where Christ will come from and why churches face the east traditionally. It stands for the beginning and rising of hope.

The Eastern Visayas is a region of beginnings as well. It is where the famous Tinikling dance originated from. It was the first region that accepted the Spaniards but also the first to bear arms against them. It is also where General MacArthur landed during World War II bringing along considerable reinforcements against the Japanese, which marked the end of the occupation and the beginning of independence.

Sinirangan and the Eastern Visayas Group of Artists bring about a new era in Philippine Art from the point of origin, promises and dreams.
