The Emilio Aguinaldo Theater Guild again showcased good talents and performances last 2010 after Sirkulo: Ang Simula was finally staged at Tanghalang Yaman Lahi last 2010. It is a story written by Gina Marissa Tagasa-Gil. Including different characters that portray the different sins of the people, the story is about reconciliation and forgiveness. The only way to save your soul from hell is to forgive. Some of the characters are: a prostitute who sells unworthy acts to save her own life, a pastor who collects money from the church to be wealthy, a battered woman who killed her husband, a drug addict and a young lady who aborted her baby to escape responsibility. Everyone is in danger for it was their final judgement. And there is only one question, who will be saved? I was invited to watch the play and had a chance to talk to the casts. The director asked me to share some tips on how to build a good character on stage. Since I was a former actor of that theater group, it wasn't hard for me to comunicate with the new actors who will be staging Sirkulo: Ang Simula. Me and my friend Jong gave a 15 minute one-on-one workshop on each actor to prepare them before their performance. We shared the most important thing to know when acting and that is CLARITY - make sure that the audience can understand what you are saying and emotions and gestures are clearly expressed. Modulation of voice is also important. You should also be aware of your audience. Be sensitive and always connect with them. Well, these are only few of the things to know but they are the most important for me when your are acting on stage.

I watched a lot of plays before when I was still in school. UP had a lot of plays during the year, and sometimes we get the tickets for free. Now that I'm working though I couldn't watch that often anymore. Masyadong mahal ang tickets hehe. The actors here are quite good. Are they acting in other theater groups?

I was once a one-act-play stage actor. It's very challenging since it was my first time to do some acts on stage. The character in this stage play, Ang Simula, are very typical people in the society. I love to see this play for I know the actors and the actresses are good role players. By the way, thanks for you tips for them especially the clarity of the diction and modulation of the voice, which are some of the important for a success of stage play like this one.

As a vateran theater performer, I am sure they were able to get many tips from you! I miss watching theater... that's how real acting is supposed to be, versus a lot of crap they show on TV nowadays, although there are really really good shows too. You just have to filter them. Keep the teatro alive!

Hi, we will be doing a stage play in our church this coming december. My friend mentioned this play, which is really fitting to our targeted audience. Is there anyway I can get a copy of the script?
