The Puzzle Mansion Bed 'n Breakfast: Art-filled Staycation

3/13/2013

Another reason to visit Tagaytay City is the museum that houses the biggest collection of puzzles that ranges from sizes, themes, motif and art forms - the main attraction of  a bed and breakfast located at the hills of Tagaytay called The Puzzle Mansion. It has a lot more to offer than the beautiful scenery of the city. And I was destined to visit the mansion one weekend and fortunately met the owner and the title holder of the Guinness World Records' Largest Collection of Jigsaw Puzzles, Gina Gil-Lacuna.

The Puzzle Museum

The Puzzle Museum is home to the world's largest collection of jigsaw puzzles made by a single person, Gina Gil-Lacuna, a 61-year old Filipina who has been awarded by the Guinness World Records as the title holder of the Largest Collection of Jigsaw Puzzles in any Size, Shape or Form. After beating the two-year title holder Brazilian named Luiza Figueiredo with a collection of 500 puzzles, she put all her collections at The Puzzle Mansion located at Cuadra Street, Barangay Asisan, Tagaytay and it is now open to public, making it the newest attraction in the city.

The puzzle gallery is the main attraction of the place.  Upon entering it, all you can see are walls filled with puzzles of paintings by the famous artists in the history including Michelangelo, Da Vinci,  Renoir, Van Gogh,  Velasquez, Monet, Picasso, Degas, Botticelli, Goya to name some of them.  If you are not familiar with the artists, Gina Gil-Lacuna will tour you around the museum and will personally introduce to the artworks and tell you the story behind each masterpiece.

If you wish to bring your family here for a weekend and stay overnight, rooms are available at the price range of 4,480- 8,880 pesos. You will be amazed with the place since it was strategically built closer to the nature. You will easily fall in love too with the exceptional creativity of the furnishings and furniture displayed in each corner of the mansion. Aside from its interior design, there are lots of fun-filled activities that you can do here. In addition to the tour at The Puzzle Museum, you will also love the pool-deck, the garden and their big kitchen. If you wish to bring home some puzzles, the souvenir shop is just a step away from the museum. It offers different kinds of puzzles for kids and even for old ones.

How To Get There:
Getting at the Puzzle Mansion is really easy. You can ride any bus bound to Nasugbu, Batangas.  It would take 2 hours travel time for you to reach the mansion. Alight at Radar Taas in Tagaytay and ride a tricycle. The fare cost is usually 35 pesos. If you are travelling in groups, you can coordinate with them and they will fetch you from the gate witch their blue and white shuttle. :)
